The FAN2356AMPX is a highly efficient integrated synchronous buck regulator. The regulator is capable of operating with an input range from 4.5 V to 24 V and supporting up to 6 A continuous load currents.The FAN2356 utilizes Fairchild’s constant on-time control architecture to provide excellent transient response and to maintain a relatively constant switching frequency. This device utilizes Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode to maximize light-load efficiency by reducing switching frequency when the inductor is operating in discontinuous conduction mode at light loads, while clamping the minimum frequency above the audible range with ultrasonic mode.Switching frequency and over-current protection can be programmed to provide a flexible solution for various applications. Output over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, and thermal shutdown protections help prevent damage to the device during fault conditions. After thermal shutdown is activated, a hysteresis feature restarts the device when normal operating temperature is reached.
FAN23A Synchronous Buck Regulators
ON Semiconductor FAN23A High-Efficiency Synchronous Buck Regulators operate with a 4.5-24V input range, support up to 24A continuous load currents, and offer an efficiency rating over 96%. Designed using Fairchild's constant on-time control architecture, the FAN23A regulators offer excellent transient response. This architecture also maintains a relatively constant switching frequency of 200kHz to 1.5MHz. Designers can use the Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) mode to maximize load efficiency. This capability is beneficial when the inductor operates in the discontinuous conduction mode with light loads. Undervoltage, output overvoltage, overcurrent, and thermal shutdown protections help prevent damage to the FAN23A regulators during fault conditions. In the event of a thermal shutdown, a hysteresis feature restarts the regulator when the normal operating temperature is reached. Designers can program the frequency as well as the overcurrent protection to meet the specific application requirements.
