The Microchip BTLC1000 is an ultra-low power Bluetooth® SMART (BLE 4.1) system on a chip with Integrated Arm Cortex-M0 MCU, transceiver, modem, MAC, PA, TR switch, and power management unit (PMU). It can be used as a Bluetooth Low Energy link controller or data pump with external host MCU or as a standalone applications processor with embedded BLE connectivity and external memory.
The qualified Bluetooth Smart protocol stack is stored in dedicated ROM and the firmware includes L2CAP service layer protocols, security manager, attribute protocol (ATT), generic attribute profile (GATT), and the generic access profile (GAP). Additionally, application profiles such as proximity, thermometer, heart rate, blood pressure, and many others are supported and included in the protocol stack.
The Microchip BTLC1000 Xplained starter kit is a hardware platform to evaluate the Microchip ATBTLC1000-MR110CA module with the Arm Cortex-M0+ SAML21 Xplained Pro host MCU evaluation board. The Xplained Pro extension plugs into the SAML21 Xplained Pro evaluation board to quickly add Bluetooth Smart connectivity. The ATBTLC1000-MR110CA module is based on Microchip’s industry-leading lowest power Bluetooth Low Energy 4.1 compliant system on chip (SoC), ATBLTC1000-MU-T.
Supported by the Atmel Studio integrated development platform, the kit provides easy access to the features of the Microchip ATBTLC1000-MR110CA BLE module and explains how to integrate the device in a custom design with the Cortex M0+ SAML21 MCU.
