FDSM Series MagI³C Power Modules

The MagI³C FDSM series from Wurth Electronics, with input voltages of 7 - 28 V and fixed 3.3 V or 5 V output, is particularly suitable for replacing LM78 linear regulators where high efficiency is required and thermal-management options are limited. It expands the existing 0.5 A output current family to 1 A. Typical 12 V to 5 V conversions at 1 A achieve 92% energy efficiency.

The FDSM series are fixed output voltage, fully integrated, DC/DC power supplies. The modules integrate the switching power stage, control circuity, inductor, and input and output capacitors all in one package. No external components are required for operation. Design effort and complexity is reduced to a minimum, ensuring fast time-to-market and low development costs. The standard THT package allows for easy assembly and is pin compatible to LM78 linear regulators. The modules comply with the low-noise electromagnetic emission norm EN 55022 class B.
