Panasonic introduces the PT series Consumer Plus microSDHC Flash memory cards. The PT series utilizes MLC-type NAND Flash run in pSLC mode. This modification to the controller firmware increases the endurance of MLC Flash from 2 k program/erase cycles to 20 k cycles and higher. As a more modestly priced option to the traditional industrial SD card, the PT series memory cards are screened at -40°C to +85°C operating temperatures. This allows a wider variety of applications and markets they can be used in, especially ones where harsh weather conditions are a concern. Similar to Panasonic's more robust industrial SD cards and eMMC, the wear leveling algorithm on the PT series cards is more sophisticated and can statically wear level the card no matter what operating system is used. These cards are compatible with both Linux and FAT files systems. The PT series power fail robustness protects data in case of power failure when the device is being written to. Data corruption can be prevented, which ensures the card contents can be read when the device is powered on again. Quality is maintained with 100% product screening before shipment to achieve low failure rate. Available in a 4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB models.
